New Moon commercial

Okay. The New Moon commercial. My friend has made me watch it way too many times. And then last night I went to a movie and saw it AGAIN. So, I have some comments to make on it.
First of all, the way it starts is a little confusing. What's with all the truck and dark outside the house, and such? What time is it? Now, about the party. I love Alice. But, the fight is so messed up. They didn't have Jasper come at Bella. Did he even go after her? It seemed like he went at Edward. And Edward would NEVER, EVER hurt his piano!!!!!!!! So, why does he throw Japer against the piano? He could as easily throw him against a wall, or something. But, no, he needs to break the piano. The forest scene is pretty good. I like it. What the HECK is up with Laurent's EYES!!!! They are huge and practically bugging out of his head!!!!!! They did much better with the eyes in the first movie. OH! I just realized, they never tell you what happens to Laurent in the first movie! Stupid gits. Okay, now the wolf. I think the way they do the wolf transformation is absolutely wonderful! I am not on Team Jacob, but I think the wolves might be the best characters of this movie! My only problem with the wolves is that I wish they were a little bigger. But you can't have everything, can you? Ah, well. The wolves rock in the movie, for sure!
Cheerio, peeps!

Pros and Cons

Okay. I will now discuss some pros and cons of movies and books.

MOVIES: Movies are really annoying. Now, don't get me wrong, I love to watch movies. Just look at the list of movies I have up on my profile. But, they always have to cut SO much of what was in the books! And then the stupid producers, or whoever, decide to add a bunch of stuff to make it more "exciting". :-P Well, boo to them. But, I do like that in movies, if some people are having a conversation, if the actors are really good, and have truly captured the essence of the character, they can make the perfect movement, facial expression, whatever. No matter how good the author is, they will never be able to perfectly describe their character's expressions. Not like they see them in their head. I know from experience. It's SO DARN frustrating! Trying to capture my character's expression, so that everyone can see them the way I do! It's practically impossible!!!!!

BOOKS: I love books. Haven't you read the blog? But, as I said before, it's so hard to capture facial expressions! Ah, well. My only problem with books is that they're so heavy to carry around. Especially the big ones. And school books. Like the darn social studies book. Curse it!!!!!!

Cheerio, peeps!

My friend and her fav books

Since I can no longer think of something to write for the day I will write about my friend. Since I'm bored, like I said before, I will take a leaf out of Cranberry's book (Cranberry is one of the people who's blog I follow. She also follows mine.) and not call my friend by her real name. I asked what I should call her and she asked to be called Infublo. (No clue what the heck it means.)

Favorite books:
The Inheritance Series (Eragon, Eldest, etc.)-Christopher Paolini
The Keys to the Kingdom-Garth Nix
The Twilight Saga-Stephenie Meyer
The Wicked Series-Nancy Holder
I can no longer think of any others.

As you can see, we have very similar taste in books. I like all the books on that list, except The Inheritance series. I don't know why, I just don't like it. She likes it WAY more than I do. Even my mom likes them more than I do. Oh, well. Now, about the Wicked series. Those are really sick, but still really good reads. I do NOT recommend them for anyone under 13, or anyone squeamish when it comes to READING about blood, or anyone who gets nightmares really easily. In the series there are many sacrifices, about 45% of them are human.

The Magic Thief

The Magic Thief is a REALLY good book, written by Sarah Prineas. There are two books in the series at the moment. Right now, I'm reading the second one, which is called Lost. The main character is a boy named Connwaer (Conn) who is apprenticed to the wizard, Nevery. And that's all I can say about the books, without giving away the whole story. Oh, and by the way, I finished both of the books in the series, each in less than 24 hours. More like 6, or something.

Sessical the Musical

Who didn't read Dr. Seuss books when they were little? Well I certainly can't think of anyone. How about seeing a bunch of them mixed together in a play? I'm sure quite a few less people. When I was six, I think, I saw Seussical. It was SOO GOOD. I still think it was one of the best plays I've ever seen. And I was in first grade, or something. It's based mostly on the Horton books. So he's obviously a main character. And then the main book it goes with is Horton Hears a Who. But it also has a big part of Horton Hatches the Egg. And then The Cat in the Hat is the narrator for a lot of it.

Pentominoes

In the book Chasing Vermeer, and the rest of the series, one of the characters, Calder Pillay, has a kind of toy, or a math tool, called pentominoes. They are really fun to play with. You are supposed to make different shaped and numbered rectangles out of them. I have a set and have made a three piece, a six piece and a twelve piece. Don't ask me how I got the tweleve piece. I haven't a clue.

Team Switzerland

Jacob is a jerk in Eclipse, constantly crossing the line. In New Moon he also crosses the line, trying to be a good friend to Bella. In Breaking Dawn he is a jerk for the whole book, till the last few chapters. Twilight is the only book where he's fairly decent.
Edward is an over-protective idiot. He has first right on Bella and Jacob should've just accepted that. However, Edward was an idiot to leave and think that he could stay away. He should have payed more attention to poor Alice.
Edward is better than Jacob, though. (In my opinion.) He has had rather more life experience, so he some what understands the consequences of his actions better. (Not much, though.) Edward is more willing to sacrifice things for Bella. Jacob seems (sometimes) to only think of himself. He doesn't seem to quite grasp that Bella was perfectly happy with Edward and now he is totally messing up there lives.
Although, there are sometimes when you have a perfectly good right to feel sorry for Jacob. Like certain times in Breaking Dawn, from his point of view. However, he antagonizes Edward a little too much for my liking.
That's why I'm on Team Switzerland. However I'm on the edge, leaning much more towards Edward than Jacob.

Les Miserables

Les Miserables is one BIG book (1222 pages). It's also really good. Some 200 or so years after it was written some people came along and decided to make a musical out of it. Which was quite a good idea, in my opinion. It follows the book very well and it has great music. This song is "On My Own".

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz is a strange book. Especially because of what so many people did to it in the years after it was written. First, they made a movie of it. That was perfectly acceptable. It's a good movie, too. Even though it doesn't follow the book hardly at all. (Did you know that the origional shoes Dorothy got were silver?) Except, then Gregory Maguire came along an wrote an excedingly disturbing book about how the Wicked Witch (Elphaba) wasn't actually all that bad. Then some one came along and made a musical out of that. Wicked the Musical is TOTALLY awesome. I've seen it twice already. But, like I said before, the book is highly disturbing.

Books to movies.

There are LOTS of amazingly awesome books that deserve to have a movie. But they don't. Then there are some books that are ok, but have a movie. Then there are some awesome books that deserve an awesome movie, and their movie are TOTALLY AWFULLY TERRIBLE.

The Harry Potter movies. 1 and 2 are really good. I wish that the first Dumbldore hadn't died. But he did, which was sad. And there's nothin' we can do about it. 3 was a bad movie. It didn't follow the book all that well and it was bad, just as a movie. Don't even get me started on 4 and 5. They both suck. 6 was a brilliant movie, just as a movie, but did absoloutly horrid at following the book.

Twilight as a movie was ok as just a movie. I don't think they did very well at following the book, though. Sometimes it seemed as though they didn't try. But, sometimes, there was just something about the way that Stephanie Meyer wrote some scenes that it would be practically impossible to capture unless you were Bella. So, good job, movie people.

Those are all I can think of for now.
Bye,
Ariella

More books I like (and dislike). Continued

I didn't get to finish that other post. Anyway, back to the book list.

Around the World in Eighty Days-Jules Verne, ?
The Bartimaeus Trilogy-Jonathan Stroud, fantasy
Percy Jackson and the Olympians-Rick Riordan, fantasy
And LOTS of other books I can't think of at the moment. There will most likely be another list.

Now for books I dislike...
Books by Isaac Asimov
The Pretties series, Sci-Fi
I can't think of anything else, but I'm sure there's more. (Or not. If you couldn't tell before, I like to read. A lot. :-)

Books I like.

Hello, to everyone. This is my first actual blog. And it's going to be about books. Shocker! (Nope, actually not.) So, here is a slightly random list of very good books (in my opinion), along with their genres'. Then a list of not-so-good books (with their genre).

The Twilight Saga-Stephanie Meyer, romance
Harry Potter-J. K. Rowling, fantasy
Pride and Prejudice-Jane Austen, romance
Heir Apparent-Vivian Vande Velde, Sci-Fi
Les Miserables-Victor Hugo, historical fiction
Around the World in Eighty Days-?, ?
